Jupiter and Uranus

Blogged by Xiao Sun on April 22, 2009 and tagged with Sample Images, Jupiter.

We just received some spectacular images of this two planet in our solar system. All of these pictures were taken by Sebastian Voltmer with his DBK 31AU03.AS astronomy camera in Namibia.

He wrote us (translated from German):

The Great Red Spot and Red Spot Jr of Jupiter were both visible on earth when Ganymed and Io flied over the planet. The Io's shadow had taken over Ganymed in the last image of the sequence.

Another image here shows what kind of details can be obtained with Baader IR filter and DMK 31AU03.AS. All color info was captured with DBK 31AU03.AS astronomy camera.

About Uranus:
Namibia is the ideal location to point your C14-Telescope at Uranus. With a little luck and instinct, you can even take the view of the cloud bands on this planet with DBK 31AU03.AS.

Thank you Sebastian for those stunning pictures! Great job!
