Pierre Stromberg, based in Woodinville, USA, has been waiting the entire winter to photograph with his DMK 31AU03.AS since he bought it last autumn. On the previous weekend (20.Feb) when the sky finally cleared, Stromberg had a try on Mars and the Moon. According to him, "What amazing results!"

Mars

Here I quote his e-mail:

Just wanted to let you know I purchased a DMK 31AU03.AS last fall and when the clouds finally cleared and I had a break from a hectic work schedule, I gave your product a try on the Moon and Mars. What amazing results!

The Moon shot is a close up of the Mare Serenitatis on the Moon. Taken on February 20th, 2010 using a Celestron 8 and a DMK 31AU03.AS. Stacked with Registax 5 using the best 800 frames out of 3000.

The attached Mars photo was my very first attempt. Camera was a DMK 31AU03.AS using a UV/IR cut filter. Scope was a Celestron 8 with a Dakin/Vernonscope 2.4x barlow. Stacked in Registax 5 and post-processed in Photoshop CS3 for curves. I used the best 250 frames out of 1000. Identifiable features include the polar cap, the high plain of Syrtis Major Panum, the low plain of Utopia Planitia, and Libya Montes.

As a software test manager, I was also very impressed with the quality of IC Capture.AS. Great job and thanks again. I can't wait to try the DMK out with a color wheel.

Many thanks to Stromberg! We welcome more pictures from you!
