Didier Favre's Solar Imagery with DMK 31AF03.AS

Blogged by Jonathan Maron on May 26, 2008 and tagged with Sample Images, Sun.

There has never been a better time to observe and capture images of the Sun! Up until a few years ago, the cost of solar filters was too high for most amateurs. Thankfully, this is no longer the case, as a number of manufacturers now cater for the amateur pocket.

As the Sun is visible for longer and longer each day, an army of solar images are eagerly awaiting to capture spectacular images. This is beautifully exemplified by Didier Favre.

By combining filters with his DMK 31AF03.AS, Didier was able to capture a number of active zones and the following protuberances. All images were captured on May 18, 2008 with a PST, Skywatcher 102/1000 and DMK 31AF03.AS (click for original images):

Many thanks go out to Didier for submitting such beautiful solar images.
