Using this cable, you can connect The Imaging Source astronomy cameras to any computer that is fitted with a 6 pin FireWire connector. Typically, 6 pin connectors are found on desktop computers. Furthermore, some laptops also have one built in or can be added later using a FireWire PC card.
In the case of a laptop, please take care to check whether the 6 pin FireWire connector supplies power. This is not always the case. Should you require an external power supply, ensure that it can deliver between 8 and 30 VDC. The Imaging Source astronomy cameras require 12 VDC and around 200 mA. Also take note of specific manufacturer directions.
